ALUMNI HOMECOMING KEEPS GROWING!

September24, 2018

This weekend’s Alumni Homecoming was again the largest in the history of Jacobs University. Over 175 Alumni from all over the world came home to celebrate their Reunion with families and loved ones. The weekend was full of events, sessions, and celebrations, which united the bond between alumni and university, as well as the bond between alumni, students, and faculty.

The Alumni Homecoming was opened by the Jacobs Career Symposium, which focused on “Hiring and Being Hired in the Digitalized World: What are the Challenges of Digital Recruitment for Employers and Applicants?” and featured a discussion panel consisting of alumni, faculty, and specialists of the sector. With over 250 students, alumni, and faculty present in the audience, followed by the Networking Reception, this was one of the most successful conferences of its kind, which has taken place for the fourth time at Jacobs University.

Saturday morning kept the Alumni Homecoming momentum going with the reunions of the study programs International Relations Politics and History, Integrated Social Sciences, Life Sciences (BCCB, MCCB, Chemistry), Physics & Earth and Environmental Sciences, as well as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Intelligence Mobile Systems. These events happened all around campus and offered great networking opportunities for students, alumni, and faculty.
After the traditional BBQ in the ICC, the General Assembly of the Jacobs Alumni Association took place with great participation and included a report given by the representative of the Executive Board.

The Gala Dinner was the weekend’s highlight and celebrated the 5th and 10th Reunions of the Classes of 2008 and 2013. Moreover, the current Alumni Scholarship recipients were introduced and funds were raised for a new scholarship to be assigned in the next academic year, whilst the top donations were awarded with artworks designed by current students in a virtuous circle of intergenerational solidarity.

The efforts put forth by the Alumni Relations Office, the Jacobs Alumni Association Organization Committee, the JU Events Coordinating Team, Campus Life, the JU Marketing Team, and the student support made the Homecoming Reunion 2018 an extraordinary event.
Jacobs University thanks all alumni for coming back to campus from all over the world and making this weekend memorable. Looking forward to welcoming back you again the next year!
