This year’s annual North American Jacobs Alumni Reunion – hosted by the Jacobs University Foundation of America – served a distinctive purpose: to honor the lifetime achievement and dedication of Ronny Wells, the Jacobs University Foundation of America presented him with a lifetime achievement award and announced their next endowed scholarship will be named the Ronny Wells Scholarship.

Ronny Wells,

Ronny Wells – a brilliant mathematician, who served as one of the founders of Jacobs University and the Jacobs University Foundation of America – played a critical advisory role in the early days of the university and contributed to the establishment of the IRC and Jacobs transdisciplinary approach to education. He also had the foresight to establish an official non-profit in the United States, such that individuals (including future alumni) could contribute to the University and receive tax benefits.

Ronny Wells continues to serve on the Board of the Jacobs University Foundation of America today. Ronny’s role in the establishment of Jacobs University is so fundamental that he has literally written a book on the history of Jacobs.

This year’s annual reunion took place in Chicago at the Quartino Ristorante. This was a special occasion where alumni joined together from across the United States to reminisce with old friends and celebrate new successes.

During the reunion, Rene Wells, head of campus life at Jacobs University  and Ronny’s son, honored his father with a key note address.

The Jacobs University Foundation of America has raised so far $40,000 of their $100,000 goal for the Ronny Wells Scholarship Fund. The first Ronny Wells Scholarship will be awarded to an incoming student this fall. The next scholarship will be awarded upon meeting the endowment goal.
